Everything you need to install your new closeboard or Waney lap panel fence.
For a 6ft high fence, you will need an 8ft post as the post needs to be installed 2ft into the ground, so a 5ft high fence needs a 7ft post, a 4ft high fence needs a 6ft post & a 3ft high fence needs a 5ft post. (for timber posts use the one nearest the length you want but not shorter- these posts can be cut to the length you need, decide if you want to use a post saver sleeve- recommended )
The height of the panel you need depends if you to fit a gravel board- deduct the height of your gravel board from your fence height to get the height panel you need- so a 6ft high fence with a 12" gravel board needs a 5ft high fence panel, etc.
WORK OUT WHAT MATERIALS YOU NEED
Measure the length of your new fence run. To work out how many fence panels you need, if working in feet divide your fence run in feet by 6, this gives you how many panels you need, if working in metric divide your fence run by 1.83, this again will give you how many panels you need- if the number is not a whole fence panel add a full panel to your list and cut to size on installation, so for 5.6 panels purchase 6, etc. From the drop-down menu, choose what style of fence panel & height you want to install, select the quantity & add to your basket. CLEAR THE PANEL OPTION DROP-DOWN MENU TO NONE & PROCEED
Next step - Gravel boards, this will be the same number as to how many fence panels you need. From the drop-down menu choose what style & height of gravel board you want to install, select the quantity & add to your basket. CLEAR THE GRAVEL BOARD OPTION DROP-DOWN MENU TO NONE & PROCEED
Next step - Fence posts, if you are starting with a new post, you will need one more post than the number of fence panels you need, if you are starting from a brick wall choose a timber wall plate fixed to the brick wall and then you will need the same number of posts as panels, if you are starting from an existing post you will need the same number of posts as panels. From the drop-down menu, choose what style of fence post & length you want to install, select the quantity & add to your basket. Remember to add a corner post if you need one. CLEAR THE POST OPTION DROP-DOWN MENU TO NONE & PROCEED
Next step - Post mix, you will need two bags of postmix for every post you install. From the drop-down menu, choose the number of bags of postmix you need & add to your basket. CLEAR THE POST MIX OPTION DROP DOWN MENU TO NONE & PROCEED
Next step - Fixings, if you are installing all timber fencing, you will need to buy panel clips (use 8 per panel on 5ft & 6ft panels, use 6 on all other panels) & nails or timber screws- use 5x70 screws for panels & gravel boards, choose the fixings you need & add to your basket. CLEAR THE FIXINGS OPTION DROP DOWN MENU TO NONE & PROCEED
Single 6ft high x 900mm wide pedestrian gate- From the drop-down menu, choose the style of gate you want, choose the hanging method you want & add to your basket. (2 x posts, 1 x post + wall plate or 2 wall plates). If you need a different size gate go to our gates for sale section. CLEAR THE GATE OPTION DROP-DOWN MENU TO NONE & PROCEED
Fencing tools- from the drop-down menu choose the tools you need to install your fence, post hole diggers are essential to digging a perfect fence post size hole as is the fencer's graft, a string line is also essential to install your fence in a straight line. You will also need a 6ft level for the posts and gravel boards. Choose each tool individually and add each one you want to your basket.
