Note; each deck board is 125mm wide x 28mm thick. There is 8.33m of decking required to cover one square meter.
To work out how many deck boards you need to cover the area you have follow the method below;
Measure the length and width of your deck area in meters and multiply the length by the width to give you your area of decking needed in square meters.
Then multiply the area you have by 8.33 which gives you the linear metres of decking needed,
Then divide the metres of decking needed by the length of deck board you want to give the number of deck boards needed,
So, if you deck area measures 12m x 5m you have a deck area of 60 square metres (12x5= 60). If you want to use 3.0m deck boards follow the steps below-
1. 60 square metres x 8.33 (metres of decking needed to cover 1 square metre) gives you 499.38 linear metres of decking required.
2. Divide 499.8 by 3.0 which equals 166.6 x 3.0m deck boards needed, round either up or down to give 167 or 166 3.0m deck boards for your order.
