All guarantees are limited to the original purchaser and will only be upheld on production of your original receipt.

Please always follow the guidance notes available for download from our website for caring for your HAYMAC timber product.

HAYMAC offer a 12-month guarantee against material defect and workmanship on all our products, except where specifically stated below.

FENCE PANELS

FP-01- HAYMAC guarantee against timber rot on our Tanalised closeboard fence panels - this guarantee allows for the replacement of the parts of the panel that have suffered timber rot. A full fence panel replacement may be offered at the discretion of HAYMAC. Supplied only fence panel guarantee offers no costs against 3rd party labour to replace or repair the panel, delivery or installation costs or any consequential loss attributed to the defect such as repainting the fence panel, etc. HAYMAC supplied and installed fence panel guarantee offers the onsite repair or replacement of the fence panel but does not offer any compensation for any consequential loss attributed to the defect such as repainting the fence panel, etc.

FP-02- HAYMAC guarantee on Tanalised fence panels is limited to panels that have been correctly installed and are installed at a level above ground which ensures contact with the soil/ground moisture has been avoided for the life of the panel as installed and that general maintenance has been regularly under taken within the guidelines for maintenance of the product.

FP-03- HAYMAC offer no guarantee for any fence panel that is in contact with the ground/soil against timber rot or any other structural defect caused by any extraneous interference, i.e. wind damage, malicious damage and vandalism, items leaned against the fence panel for prolonged periods or use of the fence panel outside of its original designation.

FP-04- The Tanalised timber used in the manufacture of HAYMAC panels is not water repellent. Although HAYMAC Tanalised fence panels are not required to be painted or weatherproofed as they are not designed to be used to provide a watertight fence, the lifespan of your fencing will be greatly enhanced with annual applications of a good quality fence treatment.  HAYMAC accept no responsibility for any damage caused through water penetration due to inadequate weatherproofing and painting. Please note that if you paint your fence panel it is advisable to paint both sides of the fence as painting one side will cause unsightly drips/runs to appear on the other side of the fence panel. Also, be advised that as the fence panel shrinks during periods of hot & dry weather you will need to re-paint the fence panel to remove the line marks caused by the shrinkage. HAYMAC do not offer any guarantee against the fence panel shrinking after painting and requiring re-painting.

FP-05 The timber used in the construction of HAYMAC fence panels is a natural product and is subject to cracks, splits, shrinkage, expansion, warping, bowing & twisting - as timber is a natural product this is not considered to be a material defect, and as such, is not covered by our guarantee. In exceptional circumstances, at our discretion, HAYMAC may offer the replacement of the parts of the panel, or a full fence panel replacement, that has suffered from the above. Should HAYMAC offer replacement parts, or replacement of the complete fence panel, HAYMAC will not be responsible for any costs against 3rd party labour to replace or repair the panel, delivery or installation costs or any consequential loss attributed to the defect such as repainting the fence panel, etc.

FP-06- TGV boarding & feather edge boards used in the construction of fence panels will have knots - these knots may become loose and fall from the boarding - as timber is a natural product this is not considered to be a material defect, and as such, is not covered by our guarantee.

FP-07- Feather edge boards used in the construction of fence panels during period of high temperature and as your fence panel dries out will, to some degree, twist and warp. This unavoidable natural issue will mean that the joint between the boards can open up allowing a visible gap to become apparent - as timber is a natural product this is not considered to be a material defect, and as such, is not covered by our guarantee. In exceptional circumstances, at our discretion, HAYMAC may offer a replacement fence panel that has suffered from the above to what HAYMAC considers to be an extreme degree. Should HAYMAC offer replacement parts, or replacement of the complete fence panel, HAYMAC will not be responsible for any costs against 3rd party labour to replace or repair the panel, delivery or installation costs or any consequential loss attributed to the defect such as repainting the fence panel, etc.

Fence Panel Timber Knots & Feather Edge Boards

All timber fence panels  will suffer from splits, cracks, shrinkage, expansion, twisting & warping and timber knots becoming loose and falling out. These issues are unavoidable with timber fence panels and as such are outside of our material defect 12-month guarantee. If you are not happy to have these naturally occurring issues present in your timber fence panel  please choose an alternative material for your fence panel from an alternative supplier.

TIMBER FENCE & GATE POSTS & WALL PLATES

TFGPWP-01- HAYMAC offer no guarantee against any timber product that is in contact with the ground/soil against timber rot. All timber fence and gate posts are Tanalised which offers the best available protection for the timber post. To prolong the life of the post and provide as best as possible protection against timber rot, please have a post saver sleeve fitted to your timber post.

TFGPWP-02-Timber fence and gate posts are a natural product and are subject to cracks, splits, shrinkage, expansion, warping, bowing & twisting - as timber is a natural product this is not considered to be a material defect, and as such, is not covered by our guarantee. All timber fence & gate posts will show varying degrees of cracks, splits, shrinkage, expansion, warping, bowing & twisting, if you are not happy to accept any of these naturally occurring issues, please choose to use either concrete fence posts or steel box section gate posts. HAYMAC will not replace a fence or gate post which shows signs of any of the above issues. In exceptional circumstances, at our discretion, HAYMAC may offer a replacement fence or gate post that has suffered from the above to what HAYMAC considers to be an extreme degree. Should HAYMAC offer a replacement post, HAYMAC will not be responsible for any costs against 3rd party labour to deliver and install the replacement timber post or any consequential loss attributed to the replacement post.

TFGPWP-03- Timber wall plates are covered by the HAYMAC material defect guarantee except for cracking, splitting, shrinkage, expansion, warping, bowing & twisting with knots becoming loose - as timber is a natural product this is not considered to be a material defect, and as such, is not covered by our guarantee. HAYMAC cannot guarantee the mechanical strength of the fixings to your house wall or brickwork as the strength of the fixings relies upon the integrity of the brickwork or wall construction it is fixed to, and as such is out of our control.

Timber Fence & Gate Posts

All timber fence & gate posts will suffer from splits, cracks, shrinkage, expansion, twisting & warping. These issues are unavoidable with timber posts and as such are outside of our material defect 12-month guarantee. If you are not happy to have these naturally occurring issues present in your timber fence or gate posts, please choose an alternative fence or gate post. HAYMAC will not replace any timber fence or gate post which shows signs of any of these issues. HAYMAC offer concrete fence posts or steel box section gate posts as an alternative.

CONCRETE FENCE POSTS & GRAVEL BOARDS

CFPB-01- Concrete fence posts supplied only & supplied and installed by HAYMAC are Class A posts. Class A posts are manufactured from C35/45 concrete with reinforcing bar. Class A posts are used for general applications. Class A posts are designed for maximum wind speeds of 28m/s with a dynamic pressure resulting from the wind speed to a maximum of 0.5KN/m2. Class A posts comply with BS EN 12839:2012. This design of class A post is not appropriate for exposed areas or sea fronts. Class B or C posts, which comply with BS EN 12839:2012, should be used in exposed areas or near a sea front.

Posts may crack under working loads and are expected to crack at maximum working loads. Cracking of a post does not signify failure. The bar reinforcement is designed to control crack widths and withstand loads in excess of the maximum working load. In addition to wind loading, Class A posts are designed for handling, and if a crack appears in a post, this does not signify failure or reject. Crack widths up to 0.2mm do not have any significant effect on the durability resistance of the posts.

HAYMAC installed concrete fence posts will be concreted into the ground in accordance with the measurements detailed below:

  • 3.0m fence post - fence height ≤ 2.1m - installation depth ≥ 900mm
  • 2.7m fence post - fence height ≤ 1.95m - installation depth ≥ 750m
  • 2.7m fence post - fence height of 2.1m - installation depth 600mm***
  • 2.4m fence post - 1.65m to 1.8m high fence - installation depth ≥ 600mm
  • 2.1m fence post - 1.5m high fence - installation depth ≥ 600mm
  • 1.8m fence post - 1.2m high fence - installation depth ≥ 600mm
  • 1.5m fence post - 0.9m to 1.05m high fence - installation depth ≥ 450mm

HAYMAC offer no guarantee for the structural integrity of the fence post and concrete foundation installed by HAYMAC for long term stability of the fence post where the ground/site conditions are unsuitable for the fence post installation. Guarantee exclusions are detailed below:

  1. Ground which has been previously excavated and backfilled, for what-ever purpose, and has not been adequately consolidated.
  2. Ground which becomes waterlogged causing the ground condition to become soft and unstable allowing the fence post foundation to move within the soft ground.
  3. Ground conditions which excessively dry out causing the ground to shrink back causing the concrete post foundation to become ‘loose’.
  4. ***Fence installations with a fence height of 2.1m that use a 2.7m long fence post. Fence installations with a height of 2.1m must be installed with a 3.0m fence post to benefit from the HAYMAC guarantee.
  5. Class A concrete fence posts installed at a location which is expected to see maximum wind speeds in excess of 28m/s with a dynamic pressure resulting from the wind speed in excess of 0.5KN/m2. It is the responsibility of the purchaser to confirm these conditions.
  6. Class A concrete fence posts used for construction of a gravel board wall in excess of 0.9m high with a foundation depth which is not equal to the height of the gravel board wall.

CFPB-02- HAYMAC does not provide any guarantee for concrete fence posts & gravel boards after collection or delivery of the item unless installed by HAYMAC.

CFPB-03- Concrete gravel boards do not provide any structural integrity beyond the downward force of the fence panel installed above the gravel board. HAYMAC does not provide any guarantee for concrete gravel boards used to retain soil or any other medium.

PREMIUM & CONTRACTOR RANGE GATES

Premium Range gates are manufactured using Tanalised timber (A.K.A pressure treated), whilst offering protection against timber rot it does not have any water repellent qualities or any U.V protection properties.

Once the gate timber is cut it exposes untreated end grain and as such must be adequately painted and waterproofed. U.V sunrays and water penetration are a major cause for early degradation and failure of exterior timbers and as such the product used to treat your gate must be U.V resistant and water repellent.

To benefit from the HAYMAC gate guarantee your gate must be  treated with a product , and in accordance to the manufacturer’s product information sheets,  from either the Sadolin or Sikkens range of exterior joinery quality timber treatment products  or the traditional painted finish using only exterior quality grade paint with 2 coats of primer, 2 coats of undercoat and 2 coats of topcoat. Suitable exterior timber care products are available from both Sadolin & Sikkens with various tints/colours that are brushed or spray applied.

Failure to adequately waterproof and paint your gate with a product from the Sadolin or Sikkens exterior timber joinery quality range of paints or stains will invalidate all HAYMAC gate guarantees.

DO NOT USE STANDARD FENCE OR SHED PAINT TREATMENTS AS THESE ARE NOT SUITABLE FOR YOUR GATE.

PCRG-01- All timber Tanalised softwood gates are subject to cracks, splits, shrinkage, expansion, cupping, warping, bowing & twisting - as timber is a natural product this is not considered to be a material defect, and as such, is not covered by our guarantee. To help against this naturally occurring issue, please treat your gate as soon as it has been installed with either the Sadolin or Sikkens range of exterior joinery quality timber treatment products  or the traditional painted finish using only exterior quality grade paint with 2 coats of primer, 2 coats of undercoat and 2 coats of topcoat, please download our product ‘care sheet’ for guidance of how to adequately paint and waterproof your product. Please avoid using basic fence panel treatments as these are not suitable for your gate. It is normal that your gate will ‘move’ during periods of high temperature with low ambient air moisture and the same during periods of high ambient air moisture, the timber used in the manufacture of your gate has been high pressure treated (Tanalised) and will need to naturally ‘dry’ and reach a stable condition matching the ambient air moisture content after installation. This ‘drying’ process unavoidably causes some degree of cracking, splitting, shrinkage, expansion, cupping, warping, bowing & twisting with knots becoming loose. If you are not happy to accept this issue, please choose to have your gate manufactured using Hardwood which is inherently more stable. In exceptional circumstances, at our discretion, HAYMAC may offer the replacement of the parts of the gate, or a full gate replacement, that has suffered from the above to what HAYMAC considers to be an extreme degree. Should HAYMAC offer replacement parts or replacement of the complete gate HAYMAC will not be responsible for any costs against 3rd party labour to replace or repair the gate, delivery or installation costs or any consequential loss attributed to the defect such as repainting the gate, etc.

PCRG-02- TGV boarding & feather edge boards used in the construction of gates will have knots - these knots may become loose and fall from the boarding - as timber is a natural product this is not considered to be a material defect, and as such, is not covered by our guarantee. In exceptional circumstances, at our discretion, HAYMAC may offer the replacement of the parts of the gate, or a full gate replacement, that has suffered from the above to what HAYMAC considers to be an extreme degree. Should HAYMAC offer replacement parts, or replacement of the complete gate, HAYMAC will not be responsible for any costs against 3rd party labour to replace or repair the gate, delivery or installation costs or any consequential loss attributed to the defect such as repainting the gate, etc.

PCRG-03- Feather edge boards used in the construction of gates during periods of high temperature and as your gate dries out and settles to the ambient air moisture content out will, to some degree, shrink, cup, twist and warp. This unavoidable natural issue will mean that the joint between the boards can open up allowing a visible gap to become apparent, this will be more apparent after you have painted your gate, these unpainted areas will require painting and weatherproofing as soon as they become apparent - as timber is a natural product this is not considered to be a material defect, and as such, is not covered by our guarantee. In exceptional circumstances, at our discretion, HAYMAC may offer replacement feather edge boards or a full gate replacement that has suffered from the above to what HAYMAC considers to be an extreme degree. Should HAYMAC offer replacement parts, or replacement of the complete gate, HAYMAC will not be responsible for any costs against 3rd party labour to replace or repair the panel, delivery or installation costs or any consequential loss attributed to the defect such as repainting the fence panel, etc.

PCRG-04- TGV boards used in the construction of gates during periods of high temperature and as your gate dries out and settles to the ambient air moisture content will, to some degree, shrink, twist, cup and warp. This unavoidable natural issue will mean that the joint between the boards can open up, this will be more apparent after you have painted your gate, these unpainted areas will require painting and weatherproofing as soon as they become apparent - as timber is a natural product this is not considered to be a material defect, and as such, is not covered by our guarantee. In exceptional circumstances, at our discretion, HAYMAC may offer replacement TGV boards or a full gate replacement where the gate has suffered from the above to what HAYMAC considers to be an extreme degree. Should HAYMAC offer replacement parts, or replacement of the complete gate, HAYMAC will not be responsible for any costs against 3rd party labour to replace or repair the panel, delivery or installation costs or any consequential loss attributed to the defect such as repainting the fence panel, etc.

PCRG-05- The gate hardware fitted to your gate is not covered by the HAYMAC guarantee outside of material defect. Gate hinges, slide bolts and all other gate fittings are not covered by the HAYMAC guarantee where the gate hardware requires adjustment due to PCRG-01, TFGPWP-02  or TFGPWP-03  , adjustment of gate hardware is the responsibility of the purchaser after installation. In some circumstances it may be required for the purchaser to add packing washers behind slide bolts to compensate for gate ‘movement’ and/or re-adjust the gate stops to allow correct operation of the gate. For HAYMAC installed gates we offer a single one-off return visit to make such necessary adjustments at a fixed cost of £35.00 inc. VAT.  In exceptional circumstances, at our discretion, HAYMAC may offer to make the single one-off visit to re-adjust the gate hardware at a reduced cost.

PCRG-06- Gates above 1.83m in height are not covered by the HAYMAC guarantee. Gates above 1.2m in width for single gates are not covered by the HAYMAC guarantee. Gates above 2.4m in width for paired gates are not covered by the HAYMAC guarantee.
